Féile an Phobail August 2014

So after a couple of long but enjoyable 11 days working at Féile an Phobail the Island Events team is looking forward to a few days rest. By providing the crowd management and event security services Island Events played a key role in the continuing success story of Féile an Phobail, Europe’s largest community festival.

Island Events put a strong and experienced management team in place to oversee the security of the 5000 capacity marquee, which saw the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, Boyzone and Jason Manford among others play to sold out audiences every night .The rapid growth of Féile an Phobail over recent years brings with it several new challenges which the Island Events team helped to overcome. This involved meticulous planning and attention to detail in order to execute the entire security operation.

Each night had a different audience profile as artists ranged from traditional Irish, dance and pop music right through to comedians. However, Island Events staff helped to create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

This was achieved in part by developing good working relationships with the local community, council and police on crime reduction measures, working with the event organisers and above all being polite, courteous and friendly when dealing with the public

Can’t wait for 2015!!!

Lantern Parade October 2014

The Island Events team were kept busy last night during the annual Lantern Parade, which happens around Halloween in Belfast. Run as a cross-community event the parade involves children, young people, and adults from various groups and schools across North Belfast.

Island Events staff were on hand to make sure the parade, which leaves from the Crumlin road jail and passes a number of well-known interface areas, was safe as it made its way to the Waterworks Park.

On arrival to the Waterworks Park more Island Events staff were present to help ensure the evening was magical, fun and above all else, safe. Fairy and theatrical performances ‘went off’ without a hitch in a safe and secure environment before the spectacular fireworks finale!!

It was a tremendous success with over 4,000 attending plus the Island Events team are already looking forward to next Halloween.
